Dear Dr. Ravi, I am writing to formally share my deeply disappointing experience during the colonoscopy procedure I underwent today, in the hope that my feedback may help improve the quality of care provided to future patients. Unfortunately, from the front desk staff to the nursing team, there appeared to be a serious lack of professionalism, organization, and empathy throughout the entire process. Two weeks ago, I accompanied a relative during a similar procedure at Hackensack Hospital, and witnessing the difference in patient care there made today’s experience even more concerning. Although my appointment was scheduled for 1:45 PM, I was asked to arrive at 12:00 PM and was not taken in for the procedure until nearly 3:00 PM. Considering the physical and emotional discomfort patients experience before a colonoscopy, I believe you can understand how difficult and exhausting such a prolonged wait can be. What disturbed me even more was the behavior of the anesthesiologist. The communication and manner were extremely rude and lacking basic compassion. The way the oxygen tubing was thrown onto me and the overall dismissive attitude were deeply upsetting. Furthermore, waking up during the procedure itself was a very distressing experience. After the procedure, when I politely asked whether I could remain lying down a little longer because I did not feel well, the nurse responded harshly, stating that there were other patients waiting and that I had to get up immediately. After hours of fasting and discomfort, the only thing offered in a rather insensitive manner was a small apple juice. In summary, Dr. Ravi, while I appreciate your medical expertise, I regret to say that I will not be returning to your practice. Being a good physician alone is not sufficient; it is equally important to surround oneself with capable, compassionate, and professional staff who reflect the same standards of care. I sincerely hope this message encourages meaningful improvements that will benefit your future patients. Respectfully, Nurten Kutlu
